What is Notepad?

Notepad enables managers and talent to make private notes, capture thoughts, write reminders and turn notes into agenda items and additional 1:1s. Notepad can be accessed in the left-hand navigation and is accessible from any page.

When clicking on the Notepad icon, all users will see a section for their own private notes. Your manager will only be able to see the notes you make outside of your 1:1 if you decide to add them to the agenda of your next 1:1 or log the note as an additional 1:1.

Notepad for Managers

Managers can also make private notes for themselves, but can also select a direct report’s name to jot down private notes related to them. Notes made related to an individual you manage will be displayed under their name in the Notepad dropdown, and can be either:

  1. Private notes you’ve written regarding that individual
  2. Additional 1:1s that you conducted with them outside of the OpenBlend platform that you’d still like to record.

1) Private notes:

These are only visible to you. When using private notes, all users will have the option to Delete; add them to an Agenda; or log them as an Additional 1:1.

  • The ‘Add to Agenda’ will add your private note to the agenda of your next 1:1.
  • Editing the Note after it’s been added as an Agenda Item will not update the corresponding Agenda item, it will only be edited in your private notes
  • Deleting the note will also not delete the Agenda Item.
  • ‘Log as Additional 1:1’ will convert your note to a completed 1:1.

2) Additional 1:1s:

All users can directly log notes they’ve made as an additional 1:1. This is used for any notes or sessions that you conducted with your manager or direct reports outside of the OpenBlend platform that you’d still like to record in OpenBlend.

A manager can access the Activity Feed of any of their direct reports, via the "My Team" section of OpenBlend.

Making notes during a 1:1

During a 1:1, each participant can make notes as you discuss each Agenda Item.

You can also add any final notes during the 'Wrap up' section before ending your 1:1.

Once your session ends, you will be able to view your 1:1 notes in your 'My Activity' section. These notes are not editable once your 1:1 ends and are visible by both parties.
