This article explains the use of Review Templates in OpenBlend and how to create a Review Template.
When creating your Review Templates, keep the questions generalised to allow you to use each of the different types multiple times, it will save you having to create a new Review Template for every cycle you run. For example, for quarterly or annual reviews, keep the wording to "this quarter" or "this year". |
What are Review Templates?
Review Templates are the question templates you will use in your Evaluate Cycles.
You are able to use the same Review Template on multiple occasions, so it is advisable to keep the questions as generic as you can, allowing multiple use of the form.
The questions in a Review Template can either have a selection only, comments only or both. Questions can also be required or optional. Each question in your review template will be automatically numbered.
Any description text you add, will appear to the user in a small "i" tooltip, next to the question.
Review Templates allow for up to 15 questions, but we would recommend that you use no more than 5-6.
Please note that the questions are the same for both managers and employees, so it is important you consider this with the wording of your questions.
Creating a Review Template
- Click Review Templates within the left hand-side navigation of the Admin area
- Click the "+Add" button on the top left-hand side
- Add the name of the Review Template, remember to keep this as generic as possible so you can re-use it in the future
- Type your question in the title box
- Add any description text
- Select a scoring system, if required
- Apply the "allow comments" checkbox, if required
- Apply the "Required" checkbox, if required
- To add another question, select "+ Add Question" and repeat steps 4-9 until all of your questions are created
- You can use a Summary Question for your final/wrap-up question.
The difference between Summary and Standard Questions
When creating a Review Template, you may have noticed 2 buttons to create new questions, "+ Add Summary Question" and "+ Add Question"
Although there is not a visible difference between a Summary Question and a Standard Question, using the Summary Question for your final rating is recommended if you are using the API to extract your data, then you can target this question type to pull the final rating.
