There is three types of objectives in OpenBlend - Company, Team and personal Objectives. This article explains the use of personal Objectives in OpenBlend which can be found in your "My Profile".
What are Objectives?
You can use Objectives within OpenBlend to keep a track of your performance deliverables and development goals, which you can then regularly discuss with your manager in your one-to-one sessions.
Your Objectives can be aligned to more general Team Objectives* and Company Objectives*, bringing clarity about how your individual skills and input impacts the wider business.
*If enabled
Your Objectives are visible to you, your direct line manager and also available to your HR team through the reporting data OpenBlend provides.
Creating Objectives
To create personal Objectives navigate to 'My Profile' and simply click Objectives from the left-hand navigation menu and click on the "+Add New Objective" button, as shown in the screenshot above.
You can also create Objectives using the "+Add New" button in the top navigation bar.
Select the Objective type which you are creating and add in the title and description of your Objective. Then click the "Next" button.
Then complete the rest of the fields for your Objective including:
- Start Date (this will default to today)
- Due Date
- Your measure for success
- Percentage
- Number
- Currency
- Milestones (Milestones how-to article)
- Yes/No
- Alignment*
- Tags* (optional)
*These are optional features may not be enabled in your OpenBlend account.
Remember! Use SMART when creating an Objective for yourself to ensure that it is effective and meaningful. We recommend using Milestones as your measure for success, to help with ensuring your Objectives are SMART.
Then click the "Create Objective" button.
Creating Objectives for your Team
Managers can also create Objectives for their direct reports from the "My Team" Section of OpenBlend, using the "+Add New" button.
Simply select the employee you would like to add the Objective for, from the dropdown menu and then selecrt "Add Objective" option from the list, as highlighted in the screenshot below.
You can then follow the steps above to input the Objective detail and create the Objective.
Note: Your organisation may have called it something else (e.g. Priorities, Goals). Performance objectives, also widely referred to as performance goals, are one of the biggest determining factors for employee performance success.
