As part of our making 1:1s easy project, a series of new settings will be made available to selected Admin users of OpenBlend. In this release overview, we detail what those settings will be.

  • The demo release date for this update is 5th June 2024.
  • The planned release date to live for this update is 12th June 2024.

PLEASE NOTE – THESE SETTINGS WILL NOT AFFECT THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE TOOL UNTIL THE RELEASE OF ‘MAKING 1:1S EASY’ LATER IN THE YEAR. WE HAVE DECIDED TO GRANT ACCESS TO THE SETTINGS EARLY TO ENABLE YOU TO GIVE CONSIDERATION TO YOUR REQUIREMENTS, AS THESE ARE MANDATORY SETTINGS THAT WILL USE THE DEFAULT OPTIONS UNLESS AMENDED.

NEW! Make 1:1s Easy – Settings

The series of new settings that will be available are split into two groups, which can be found on the company settings page:

1. 1:1 Focus, Purpose & Agenda Item

2. Frequency Settings

Let’s look at these in a bit more detail:

1. 1:1 Focus

  • This is the specific name that will be given to a 1:1 type. There will be a number of OpenBlend default Focus types. The Admin user will also be able to create their own 1:1 Focus types and make these available to users.

2. 1:1 Purpose

  • Each Focus (detailed above) will have its own Purpose. This is a short description that will help steer the conversation.

3. Agenda Items

  • Along with each Focus & Purpose, the Admin can create or select 1 or more agenda items that should be ‘suggested’ when the Focus is selected within the agenda.

4. Frequency settings for Suggestions

  • These settings will drive the suggestions shown to a user in their agenda and in their 1:1 experience.
  • By default, OpenBlend will have a series of suggestions based on behaviour. For example, frequency settings will allow the Admin to set if they want ‘wellbeing’ to be added to suggestions if a wellbeing update has not been made in the last 60 days. Note: by default, all options are set to 60 days. The available options are as follows
  1. Motivators
  2. Wellbeing
  3. Objectives
  4. Develop

Q: How can an Admin get to the settings?

A: You can set the permissions of each Admin to allow access to the new settings by going to Admin > User Information > Clicking on the Pencil ‘edit’ icon next to the Admin Users’ name. From here, check/uncheck the setting for ‘View/edit company settings (including company objectives’ (see screenshot below).

Please note that checking/unchecking the box will set all permissions for the admin to access Company Settings.

Once you have set permissions, the Admin will be able to access these new 1:1 settings by selecting Company Settings > 1:1 Focuses.

Q: What are the OpenBlend default Focuses?

A: There are currently 3 OpenBlend Default Focuses. These are:

  1. General 1:1
  2. First 1:1
  3. Performance 1:1

Q: As an Admin, what can I do with the OpenBlend default Focuses?

A: By default, these will be available. As an Admin, you can decide to:

  1. View a focus:
    1. This will allow you to see the name & purpose description for that default Focus.
  2. Clone a focus:
    1. This will allow you to clone an OpenBlend default focus, with the purpose of adapting it specifically for your business. This could be updating the focus name, the purpose description or adding agenda items you want suggested when that focus is selected for an agenda.
    2. All clones will automatically have a Prefix of ‘Clone’ before the Focus name. This can be edited.
  3. Activate/Deactivate a Focus
    1. This will allow you to choose if you want that Focus to be available to users when creating an Agenda.

Q: How can I create a new Focus?

A: A new Focus can be created by selecting ‘Add a New 1:1 Focus’.

When selected, a ‘create’ modal will be displayed that will allow for creation of the Focus. Please note, a Focus Name and Purpose are mandatory for creating a Focus.

Q: What can I do with a Focus that I have created?

A: For Admin created focuses, it is possible to:

  1. Edit:
    1. Editing a Focus will surface the same ‘Create’ modal already populated.
  2. Clone:
    1. The clone feature for OpenBlend Default and newly created Focuses is exactly the same. See above for more detail.
  3. Delete:
    1. Company specific Focuses can be deleted.
